Orhan Ymeri is a Los Angeles-based director, cinematographer, and sound designer whose work blends emotional realism with stylized, psychological storytelling. Originally from Kosovo, he immigrated to the United States in 1999 and later earned a B.A. in Film Production from California State University, Northridge, with a focus on directing, cinematography, and sound design.
His films often explore identity, obsession, morality, desire, and the fragile nature of control. Rather than approaching those themes through straightforward realism, Orhan builds visual worlds shaped by mood, tension, and atmosphere, using image and sound together to create a more immersive psychological experience.
Projects including “Doctor Z” and “Fear of Desire” reflect that interest in guilt, decay, and inner conflict, while his upcoming project “Arlene’s Way” expands into a more grounded but mythic world of power, toxic love, and emotional instability.
Orhan’s background in cinematography and sound design strongly influences the way he directs. He approaches scenes through light, framing, rhythm, and sonic texture, treating each element as part of the emotional architecture of the story rather than as a separate technical layer.
Alongside his directing work, Orhan has professional experience across writing, videography, sound design, editing, and photography. His broader goal is to create films that feel visually precise and emotionally charged, leaving audiences with images and ideas that continue to resonate after the final cut.
